About the Artist

Tanise has stepped out into a brand-new adventure by setting up Waybarra, which is a Waradgerie word meaning Weaving. 

Tanise has grown up around art, galleries and creative workshops and started painting and selling her art with her family back in 2010.

Tanise started weaving this year and found it relaxing and realised that I can make cool stuff to wear.

She has created two styles for her jewelry collection:

Marraga - Diamond, in my dad’s language Gunnai. Marragas are shields and as you wear them you are protected.

Maarung - Circle, in my mum’s language Waradgerie. Maarung represents the circle of life.
