Saltwater Songlines

$10,000.00

Artist:                 Richard Young

Size:                     H 203 x W 112cms

Medium:            Acrylic on canvas

Price:                   $10,000

Story:    This painting is a symbolic representation of the cultural pathways of the Gunnai people along the southern coast of Victoria, where the sea and rivers meet. These routes were never written — they were sung and memorised through creation stories, guiding the Gunnai to hunt, fish, and gather with the tides. The flowing blue layers mark the movement of water and memory, while the lighter lines show the passages of ancestors who travelled by song. Saltwater Songlines celebrates the living connection between land, sea, and story — the songlines that still guide the spirit home.
