Waluwin - Sold

$250.00

Artist:   Judith Young

Medium:            Framed Watercolour Burning

Size:                     H 53 x W 43 cm

Price:                   $ 250

Story:                  My WALUWIN collection is a tribute to my mum and dad who grew up on the Sandhills along the Murrumbidgee River in Narrandera.  My mum was a watercolour artist and dad an artefact maker and would burn our markings onto the boomerangs and clapsticks.

The leaves and trees I choose for my work have a range of different intentions and purposes. Each one of these trees were used by my family for artefacts, healing, and health.  I always remember going back to Narrandera and how mum spoke about the beautiful wattle trees which brings joy to the soul.

As I say healing is a journey not a destination, and I’ve learnt how important it is to get out in the bush and connect with our creation, just as our ancestors have always done.  My artwork is about the importance of healthy living and healthy thinking; healthy choices we can make.  Coming out of illness and the pandemic my goal as an artist is to paint into existence health through connection to country.
